Junia guesthouse is located on the eastern bank of the Bukit Lawang’s Bohorok River, about 150 Meters from Indah’s Bridge (Long Bridge, Then a five minutes walk to the side of the Bohorok River, and there is we have bloody cold beer!

Junia guesthouse has 4 rooms and 1 bungalow and a restaurant with spectacular panoramic views of the jungle and bohorok river, each room have internal bathrooms with shower and a balcony with a hammock! Gunung Leuser National Park
is one of the two remaining habitats for
Sumatran Orangutans (Pongo abelii). In 1971, Herman Rijksen established the Ketambe research station, a specially designated research area for the orangutan. Other mammals found in the park are the Sumatran Elephant, Sumatran tiger, Sumatran rhinoceros, Siamang, Mainland Serow, Sambar deer, and Leopard Cat.

After researchers put 28 camera-traps in July 2011, 6 months later the researchers found one male and six females and predicted the population is not more than 27 Sumatran rhinoceros which total population predicted is around 200 in Sumatra and Malaysia, a half population of 15 years ago.

Restaurant offers both Western and Indonesian style food, serving delicious juices, cold beer, jungle juice, pancakes, curries, vegetable dishes, and more. All the ingredients food are originally coming from Bukit Lawang farmers on fresh.

Our restaurant and bar is the place to be in Bukit Lawang on Wednesday nights - playing live music and dancing. Other nights at Junia’s, enjoy guitar playing and singing near the river or relaxing in your hammock.

How to Get Here
Bukit Lawang is a small tourist village located at the bank of Bahorok River in North Sumatra province of Indonesia. Firstly, you need to get to Sumatra Island, Sumatra is not that hard to get to. There are direct flights from Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Penang as well as catching a ferry from Singapore, Batam, Johor Baru or Penang and Melaka Malaysia.

If you are already in Indonesia, you need to take short flight to Polonia International airport in Medan, North Sumatra. There are several airlines which offers cheapest ticket such as Lion Air, Air Asia and Sriwijaya Air.

Once you are in Medan you then need to get to Bukit Lawang and there are a number of options which vary in terms of comfort and adventure!
  • We can arrange transport and pick up from Polonia International airport in Medan or from Medan City. You can choose to use private transportation (Car Rent) or use public local transportations.

  • Or if you prefer to experience new adventure, you can make your own way to Bukit Lawang on public transport with our guidances. We will give you all the important informations and also provide all the tricks that you never imagine before.
